Chadwick

(Needs revisions!)

This town is roughly the size of Montfort. The people are friendly and outgoing, and the town is used to travelers coming and going. There are two Inns here; the 'Golden Sabre' which tends to be expensive but is luxurious and has a wealthy clientele, and 'Rudy's', which is reasonably priced, has some of the best roasted meats anywhere, and attracts most of the common folk and adventerers.

The town is nominally under control of Therion, Baron of Chadwick...however, Therion is more interested in pursuing mind magic than in the day to day details of his barony. These details are taken care of by one of Therion's loyal retainers, a half-elf named Baldemar. Baldemar is cheerful, kind hearted, utterly honest...but nobody's fool either. The half-elf came up with a variety of creative taxes that keep Therion well supplied with money, the Barony affluent enough to provide exemplary care for it's citizens, and local taxes so low as to be almost nonexistent. Both Therion and Baldemar are quite popular as a result!

Unfortunately, a knight by the name of Soros has abused the Baron's trust, and has used various means to deceive Baldemar. He has badly mistreated some of the populace, and has embezzled tax money. Although Therion is as yet unaware of this, a group of adventurers is striving even now to correct the problem!

Chadwick's economy is based on trade. Being the only large town in a large area, travelers have little choice but to pass through the town. Merchants maintain warehouses and virtually any kind of goods are easily available...even rare and unusual items. Additionally, wheat and corn grow in abundance in the area.

In the past, there were incursions by bandits and enemy armies...however, the resulting military disasters and the half crazed tales of some who escaped, have kept the barony free of war for quite some time....
